    Farm manager/partner for a Flower Farm

    Job Description

    We are seeking an early-career farmer to help establish a new flower farm. A small-scale pilot will begin in Spring 2026, with plans to expand into a full business in the following months. This role involves full responsibility for planning, cultivating, and maintaining the farm. Open to for-hire or, partnership model. Role & Responsibilities Grow local, fresh flowers with quality control for florist use Apply sustainable farming practices with optimized water usage Plant and harvest flowers according to seasonal needs Design and maintain flower beds with irrigation systems Keep the land neat, clean, and well-maintained Purchase necessary seeds and equipment Manage composting and clean buckets Deliver flowers to florists (optional)

    Requirements

    - Ability to prepare, amend, and maintain soil using organic or regenerative practices - Experience with seed starting, transplanting, succession planting, and crop rotation - Knowledge of specialty cut‑flower crops suited to Sonoma’s Mediterranean climate - Skilled in harvesting, conditioning, and post‑harvest handling for florist‑grade quality - Ability to identify pests, diseases, and nutrient issues and manage them using sustainable methods - Familiarity with irrigation systems (drip, timers, water conservation practices) - Comfort operating small farm equipment (tillers, mowers, hand tools) - Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and Sonoma’s seasonal conditions - Comfort with repetitive tasks: weeding, harvesting, staking, deadheading
